Climate protection: SIEBFABRIK leads the way with KLIMAfit project

Mössingen-Öschingen. The SIEBFABRIK Arthur Maurer GmbH & Co. KG is at the forefront of climate protection and is one of the twelve pioneering companies participating in the "Together Climate-Fit in the Neckar-Alb Region" project. The project, which is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy, was initiated by the city of Reutlingen, with Tübingen and Mössingen also taking part.

Participants are seven companies from Reutlingen, three from Tübingen and two from Mössingen, including SIEBFABRIK. Christoph Leppla, Managing Director of SIEBFABRIK, emphasizes: "Climate neutrality is becoming increasingly important for us and also for future employees. This is where we want to become top fit. For example, we are on the right track with our photovoltaic systems on the roofs and our new production hall."

At the launch event at RWT Reutlinger Wirtschaftstreuhand, Reutlingen's Lord Mayor Thomas Keck emphasized: "We need courageous and innovative pioneers among companies to show that it pays to invest in climate protection, even if some very thick boards have to be drilled in this transformation process." Keck hoped that the project, which is being carried out across state borders, would have an impact and pave the way for other initiatives. He thanked the companies for their great interest and the consulting firm Arqum from Stuttgart, whose employee Ute Kessler, business lawyer, business economist and occupational safety specialist, is providing professional support for the process.

Four workshops will focus on topics such as energy and heat as well as mobility in the companies. At the same time, the companies can receive individual advice over the entire period of about nine months. At the end, a commission will check whether certification can be granted. One year later, the companies must then present a new balance sheet and an updated program. The requirements include a package of measures, an energy balance sheet, the appointment of a climate officer, the formulation of climate targets and a sustainability report. With regard to the outcome of the project, the managing director of the SIEBFABRIK is excited: "In time, we will see where we stand in terms of ecological footprint, what is required and how we get there," says Christoph Leppla. "We think the initiative is important. Climate protection is a future issue for all companies."

The KLIMAfit project was also reported on by the regional broadcaster RTF.1
